Training

Your surgeon completed 3-4 years of medical school followed by 5 years of surgical training and passed a rigorous certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Many surgeons have completed an addition 1-2 years of surgical training to gain further special skills in important areas such as emergency or trauma surgery, or diseases of the colon and rectum including colon cancer, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and other disorders. We also have surgeons who are experts in breast disease and breast cancer care.

In addition, many surgeons have completed a Master’s degree in a variety of areas including medical education, health economics, or public policy.

Your surgeons are helping to educate the next generation of surgeons by teaching them in the clinic, the hospital, and the operating room. Your impact as a patient and the lessons you impart to our surgeons in training are invaluable.

Thank you for allowing us to participate in your care.
